EA Networks returns as key sponsor for Glow in the Park

EA Networks Glow in the Park is set to light up Ashburton Domain this King’s Birthday Weekend once again, with EA Networks returning as the key sponsor for the event’s fifth year.

Ashburton District Mayor Liz McMillan said the three-night light festival had quickly proved itself as Mid Canterbury’s most popular family event thanks to EA Networks’ support.

“Glow in the Park is a wonderful event for our community, and people are always telling us how much they appreciate being able to enjoy it for free.

“This wouldn’t be possible without EA Networks. They’ve backed us from day one and helped Glow grow into what it is today,” Mayor McMillan said.

Last year’s event drew tens of thousands of visitors from across Ashburton and Canterbury, reinforcing Glow in the Park as one of the district’s largest events.

EA Networks Chief Executive Onno Mulder said Glow in the Park had become a much-loved event for Mid Canterbury families.

"Glow in the Park is about bringing people together and creating something special our whole community can enjoy. We’re proud to support an event that’s free, inclusive and has become such a special part of the Ashburton calendar."

Mayor Liz said this year’s event will feature familiar favourites alongside exciting new experiences.

“The food vendors and amusements are back as well, but the star of the show is still the lights.”

While the Mayor wants to keep some surprises in store for visitors, she says the new lighting installations will include a neon-pink heart garden, dazzling dinosaurs, a funky inflatable DJ Octopus and fresh photo opportunities throughout the park.

“It’s only three weeks away, so now’s the time to get it in the diary and plan your visit,” Mayor Liz said.

"If you haven't been before, I'd really encourage people to head along and experience it for themselves," Mulder added.

EA Networks Glow in the Park will be open from 5pm to 9.30pm each night, from Friday 29 May to Sunday 31 May of King’s Birthday Weekend. A low-sensory session will be hosted on Sunday from 3pm to 5pm.
