Upgrading your supply increases the electrical capacity that you can access at your home, farm or business.
The capacity of your power supply needs to be big enough to meet your peak load, the point where you have the most appliances and equipment running at the same time. Increasing your capacity can cost more, so check that it is necessary first – an electrician can provide advice on how much you need for your particular situation.
For safety, we need to know that your equipment can handle the extra capacity before we increase it. We’ll need to see an electrician’s certificate of compliance or get confirmation from your electrician first. To get it sorted, it’s usually easiest if you get your electrician to apply to us for the capacity increase.
Upgrading to a large supply?
Upgrading to a large supply, requiring more than 100 amp fusing, will often require a change to your metering equipment, which can incur charges with your electricity retailer. If you have any queries about additional associated costs that may be incurred, please contact your retailer directly.
